It does in fact have white barring and the term "piculet" indicates a diminutive woodpecker. It is by all accounts an enchanting little bird. I find piculets in general quite charming and this species is no exception. An outstanding series of photographs, Hernán. The last piculet I saw was in Costa Rica two years ago.David M.
